In a nutshell: The International Consortium of Orthopaedic Registers (ICOR) is in the process of developing a collaborative process for improving the safety of orthopaedic devices using the outcome registers from a number of countries. This article summarises papers presented at the first ICOR conference showing the evidence provided by some of the registers and also the collaborative work that has gone on. The future role of the ICOR is also discussed.
