In a nutshell: Using data from the 8th Annual Report from the National Joint Registry for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (2011), researchers highlighted the fact that a number of devices being used had no long-term survivorship data. These devices remain unproven. Surgeons need to use the most reliable implants with proven survivorship from both the patient care stand point and the best value for money basis.
