In a nutshell:  Fast-track programmes in THA & TKA have been widely implemented in Denmark with corresponding reductions in length of stay.  Patients who had undergone these procedures were identified from 6 departments who had implemented fast-track programmes.  These patients were compared to those from other departments without specific fast-track programmes to identify differences in re-admission, reoperation and mortality rates.
