In a nutshell: A presenter at the Current Concepts in Joint Replacement Spring Meeting offered the use of 3-D printed models as an alternative for surgeons who perform revision total hip arthroplasty on patients with severe bone loss. The 3-D models can be used to create individualised orthopaedic implants which help the reconstructive surgeon in situations where there is catastrophic bone loss.
